Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect from my first session?
It is a chance to discuss what your expectations and hopes are from attending counselling sessions. We will agree on a contract of working together and have a look at key issues that you want to focus on. I will ask you complete a brief assessment form and ascertain that we want to work together. It could be that we realise that your needs may be best met by a different service, and we can discuss your options.
How often should I have counselling sessions?
Counselling sessions are usually once a week, but we can schedule the sessions to be once a fortnight if that is what you want.
How long will I need to attend counselling sessions?
It is up to you! It is common to start with 6 sessions and see how you feel that the sessions are helping. We will regularly review how the sessions are going and discuss what you are wanting from the work together.
What is the cost of a session and how do I pay?
Each session costs between £55 – £70. You can pay by bank transfer to the details given on the contract. Payment should be made prior to the appointment. If you need to cancel, I would expect 24 hours’ notice when possible.
How do I make an appointment?
Please contact me via email carma5@protonmail.com or by phone 07809150015. You can also complete an online form, or contact me via Facebook.
What happens if I want to end my sessions?
It is your choice to attend counselling. If you want to stop, it is helpful to say that you are thinking of bringing your sessions to an end with a bit of notice. We will discuss this and make arrangements to work towards a planned ending together.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes, what you say in counselling is confidential, and as a counsellor I adhere to a code of conduct and ethics regarding confidentiality. In the contract it explains that there are some extensions of confidentiality if there are exceptional circumstances such as risk of life. All issues of confidentiality will be discussed in the session.
